Amy Studt Releases New Single & Lyric Video "Sleepwalker" Which Is The Third Track From Her Forthcom
Another six weeks have passed which means we have another new single from Amy Studt. This one is titled “Sleepwalker” and her fans who have followed her for many years may know the song as she previously released the track under a new name in 2012 when she was experimenting with her sound. Now, it’s been officially released and we are loving every second of it. This release follows up the previous single “Let The Music Play“.
Amy Studt hit the UK’s music industry hard in 2003, at just 16. She had three UK top 20 hits with “Just A Little Girl”, “Misfit”, and “Under The Thumb”. Her False Smiles album hit number 18 on the UK Chart. Her fourth single “All I Wanna Do”, a cover version of Sheryl Crow’s hit, spawned a re-release of her debut album. Unfortunately, it only charted at number 21, and she was subsequently dropped from her label. Five years later (2008), she returned with a second album My Paper Made Men which spawned three singles “Furniture”, “Chasing The Light”, and “Nice Boys”. Now, album three has been a long-time coming with plenty of teasers from this British singer-songwriter, we’re excited about this deep dark path she’s taken and cannot wait to hear more new music.
According to Spotify, the song was solely written by Amy Studt. whereas the lyric video was created by Serena Huang & Finnigan Kidd. The track was previously released back in 2012 under the name Mercy Made Me, this was during her experimental phase. It’s nice to think she kept this song close to her during those six years and finally released it officially as a single. We only have three more singles to be released before her official long-awaited third studio album.

This certainly fits with her previous releases this year as it’s dark and hypnotic. Amy Studt completely impresses with her vocals, showing off her range, control, and strength. She’s a powerhouse vocalist that deserves to be heard and this track really proves her singing ability. The track hasn’t really changed a whole lot over those six years – yes, we still have the original Mercy Made Me version – and it just proves the track was ahead of its time as we weren’t so keen on it back then, but now it’s one of our favourite tracks that Amy Studt has released this year. We love her spoken parts in “Sleepwalker” which give it more of a haunting feeling. We have no doubt that this track is an epic song to hear Amy Studt sing live and we’re sure it’s one that gets the crowd going.
The lyric video is interesting to watch as it showcases various visuals as the words appear in front. They connect the lyrics “violence in the city tonight” with clips of what looks like riots, whilst other scenes are intercut with police sirens, city nightlife, people sleeping, and a couple holding hands.
“Sleepwalker” is available to download and stream right now, via Crocodile Records London. We have another five weeks and five days until she releases her fourth single from her long-awaited third studio album, and we cannot wait.
